Key Issues
The meeting will provide an occasion for the G77 to assess the achievements of common efforts to advance the cause of development through UNCTAD, and to identify the key trade and development issues in the light of new challenges and developments to be addressed in the years ahead.
Purpose of the event
At the meeting, the Group will discuss and adopt a declaration identifying key trade and development issues that can strengthen development and reduce poverty in developing countries.
The contributions of UNCTAD to promoting development - including the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals - will be highlighted in the context of the expected outcome from UNCTAD XII.
