Key Issues
The Empretec Africa Forum is a regional network designed to help Empretec centres in Africa by facilitating institutional- and capacity-building, networking and engaging in South-South cooperation with regard to small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurial skills development.
The forum will also help the centres think strategically and act operationally by giving the network a vision and directional focus for its programmes.
The aims of the forum:
- To unleash entrepreneurial potential in Africa by developing sustainable mechanisms to facilitate the development of small and medium-sized enterprises
- To spread awareness of best practices and experiences and promote knowledge-sharing thereof
- To launch new centres and develop new products
- To foster regional partnerships and South-South cooperation
Purpose
Empretec relies on co-sponsorship by commercial and national development banks, government agencies, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and on the cooperation of the private sector and local industrial organizations.
To launch the Empretec Africa Forum, the Chair of the Forum will present donors with a business plan and an action plan, and participants will assess sponsorship opportunities in the region.
Expected outcome/deliverables
The Empretec Africa Forum Business Plan will be distributed to all participants.
