Global Initiative on Commodities

Notification

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC), the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) and the United Nations Development programme (UNDP) are jointly organizing a Conference entitles "Global Initiative on Commodities". At the invitation of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply, the Conference will take place from 7 to 11 May 2007 in Brasilia, Brazil.

The Conference is the first pre-event for UNCTAD XII (20-25 April 2008), Accra, Ghana). It will deliberate on major issues related to commodity development, including supply-side constraints, value-chain issues, financing of diversification and the use of resource rents, and will seek to define ways in which they can be addressed.
